Kala Patthar trek is one of the worldly famous trekking holiday routes in Nepal. Everest Kala Patthar trek has been attracting increasing numbers of mountain trekkers and thrilling adventures all around the world. The classic attraction in this Kala Patthar trek is the best viewpoint and only on close up view of Mount Everest, its base camp and glacier including more than 20 trekking peaks and high mountains Kala Patthar height is 5,550 meters which is the highest point of our trekking duration.
This trek begins with a mountain flight from Kathmandu Tribhuvan international airport to Lukla airport, then after a short refreshing break, the trek to Kala Patthar formally starts from Lukla and heading to Phakding, Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche & top of Kala Patthar viewpoint. This trek is leading towards the Sagarmatha National Park which is a natural World Heritage site in Nepal. The trek will take you up and down, stone steps, green woods, muddy routes, narrow valleys, passing yaks, donkeys, mountain goats walking through traditions Sherpa village where you will gain an interesting insight into the lives and culture of Sherpa people. No matter where you are in the Kala Patthar top you will screen your eyes to the spectacular panoramic views of the Everest mountain range including Mount Everest.
This is the most unforgettable memory in the Everest trek that is the incredible views of sunrise from the snow-capped peaks above the Khumbu glaciers from the Kala Patthar summit. Throughout the journey of the trek you will keep passing Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags, the spectacular views of the Himalayan range are getting closer and closer. Standing on the summit of the Kala Patthar on a clear day you will be able to see the extraordinary panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Kwangde, Ama Dablam, and others snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
You are warmly welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, Kathmandu company representatives will welcome you and facilitate to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, evening you will meet and statues to our office and briefing about your trip. At the evening we offer you welcome dinner in one of the classic Nepalese Restaurant in the Nepali Chulo or similar and overnight in hotel.
You will have your breakfast at the hotel and our guide will lead you on a cultural and historical city tour. You will take to the pilgrimage place of Hindu Pashupatinath temple which is regarded as the main holy place where every Hindu came for worship. You can see many Yogis, Baba, and many monkeys chuckle with each other. There you can find many statues of Shiva which is worshipped by the Hindus.
Then we will take you to visit the largest Buddhist pilgrimage center called Boudhanath Stupa where you can see the vibrant life of Buddhists and locals. We will transfer you to visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square which is one of the most fascinating old squares of Kathmandu Valley and all three places are listed in the World Heritage Site of Kathmandu among seven in the Valley. We return to the hotel and prepare for the next day's adventure trip to the Everest trail.
In the morning the participants will take a spectacular 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This small town high in the Himalayas is the gateway to the Mount Everest region and an important base for trekking, mountaineering, and expeditions. The trek starts with the beautiful green forests, Sherpa valley, and the White Mountains. After landing in Lukla, we begin our trekking to the Sherpa village of Phakding. We will hike down into the Phakding village on the bank of Dudh Koshi River. The trail leads to Phakding enjoy the natural scenery along the way. When we arrive in Phakding you can enjoy the superb view of Kusum - Kangaru. When you have a short climb from here you will reach the Ghat village. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. We overnight in Phakding at Sherpa lodge or teahouse.
On this day, we trek to Namche Bazaar from Phakding Village through the Dudh Koshi riverside. The trail is pleasant with the views of forests of pine, fir, and rhododendron trees. We reach Monjo which is the boundary of Sagarmatha National Park. The views of giant mountains are impressive while walking through the trail. We pass through the last village of Jorsalle before reaching Namche Bazaar. The trail climbs through the forests and bridges until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. You can enjoy the magnificent views along the way of Kwangde peak and also the view of Mt. Everest and Lhotse. Then after that, you reach the Namche Bazaar with colorful houses. Stay and overnight at the local lodge.
It is acclimatization day in Namche so you have enough time to explore the lifestyle of locals. Short hiking can be the utilization of time. High altitude can be harmful if we ignore resting. It is necessary to adjust your body with high elevation. Visit Sagarmatha National Park and hiking to Everest View from Army camp. You can view the world’s amazing panoramic scenes of the earth and get a chance to observe uniquely different Sherpa Culture.
From the Namche your foot heading towards the Khumjung village. As we have passed through the upper trail up to Syangboche airport by enjoying the beautiful sceneries including forests. As we heading downwards you will reach the Khunde hospital which is the biggest hospital in that surrounding this is run by Sir Edmund Hillary which was the foundation of Canada. After your few hour walk you can enjoy yourself with the Sherpa people as well as you can explore the surrounding area. You can visit the Hillary school as well. Stay and overnight at Khumjung village and be like the local Sherpa.
We start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying the superb view of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku. Our trek follows on the gradual trail with a few ups and downs overlooking the magnificent view of the great Himalaya. Along the way, we can spot wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar. Tengboche is a great place for close-up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest and it has the biggest Buddhist Monastery all over in the Khumbu region run by Guru Rinpoche. Get a chance to a small hike to see a glimpse of Tengboche and surrounding areas. We overnight at the Tengboche lodge.
Today your trek goes to the Dingboche. We snap pictures of the monastery and the sceneries around and as usual start the day journey. We choose the upper trail for better views to visit Pangboche village and its ancient Monastery. We pass through several Chortens and Mani walls and small villages. We enjoy lunch with fantastic close-up views of Ama-Dablam. On arrival in Dingboche, we enjoy the beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect the barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. We overnight in Dingboche.
Today you have the full time to rest or to explore the place of Dingboche. If you are interested then you will be taken to the Nangkartshang viewpoint for your trek. Nangkartshang hill is the place that covered the amazing view of the snow-capped peaks and the glaciers of the Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Imja Valley. This valley is the last settlement of the Khumbu region. Stay and overnight in Dingboche.
Leaving Dingboche, the trail leads us uphill to a small prayer monument and past the village down below with awesome views of surrounding snow-capped peaks. After a walk for about two hours, we reach Thukla a small settlement for teahouse purpose. From the top, you can view Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest. At the top of this climb, there are many stone cairns, built as memorials to the many Sherpa’s and Everest climbers who have died while climbing Mount Everest. The path then climbs gently along the small stream to eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche. Our trek continues to Lobuche for the overnight stop. Enjoy the beautiful close-up sunset view in Mt. Nuptse.
Today your trail moves to the Gorakshep passing bouldering trails but it offers the wonderful view of Mt. Pumori, Mt Nuptse as well as other peaks. Then after two hours of climb, you will reach to the top of Kalapathar. Here you can achieve the great moment of the journey with the full excitement and the satisfaction as soon as you reach the top of the big black rock. You can find the view is superb including a close-up view of Mount Everest and base camp to the down Valley. It seems that will be beyond your imagination. From here you can screen the Khumbu glaciers along more than 20 high mountains. It’s easy to re-trek Gorakshep for your overnight. For a full day, you will enjoy the view. We will not conquer the Everest Base camp on this trip but it is possible if you wish to go and consult your guide in advance if necessary.
Today’s trek is mostly downhill. As we retrace our steps and descend to Pheriche, we arrive at the Himalayan Rescue Association, a trekker’s aid post and worth a visit. There you can find the views of pastureland, valley streams river and snow-capped peaks all around and after lunch we descent towards the down valley to Pangboche village. We will overnight at Pangboche village and best opportunity to see close up sunset view over Mount Ama Dablam.
We continue to follow the river and after crossing it, climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Tengboche. While you cross the Dudh Koshi River you can see the beautiful views of Everest and the Himalayan range. After descending and climb Sanasa we back to Namche Bazaar overnight.
This is our last day trek to Lukla. The trail drops downhill through the pine forest till to the bridge and we walk to the Monju. From Phakding you can enjoy the incredible mountain views, waterfalls, and a local Sherpa village. After that, your last day of the trek continues to the Lukla which is a long and 7 hrs walk. Stay overnight at the lodge and enjoy farewell dinner with crews.
Our flights are in the morning for Kathmandu. After breakfast at the Lukla hotel, you will check in to the airport as scheduled and take your board to fly to Kathmandu. When your guide gets news about your flight arrival at Lukla airport, will call you to watch how the small aircraft get lands in the small airstrip. You can enjoy the last splendid views of mountains, valleys, rivers, and waterfalls. When we reach Kathmandu our guides will transfer you to the hotel. You will have free time to relax, refresh up, and rest.
Today is the day of flight reserve. Lukla flight usually affect by weather condition and if you fly earlier then this day can use either rest at the hotel or explore Thamel for sightseeing for typical Nepalese goods which can be assisted by our guides or you can do it yourself. In the evening you will be having dinner in the celebration of a successful expedition. And the overnight stay in the hotel.
You are saying goodbye to the mountains as your adventure in Nepal comes to an end today. You will be transferred to the Airport for your departure.
